Andrew Douglas reminds me a lot of Mogwai. Mogwai, but with bagpipes. So when you take into account the fact that Mogwai is Scottish, one might even be tempted to say that Andrew Douglas is more like Mogwai than Mogwai.

Fascinating CD in a pipers trapped in an elevator at Wyndham Hill studios with Philip Glass kind of way. Had a great time in Piping Hot Summer Drummer, thanks for the fun class and insight into piping tricks of the trade. My wife loves doing yoga to your CD, I told her, get bent, it's mine. I just got this album today and have listened to it twice. I'm now on the third listen. This is a very musically coherent album that's extremely inventive. Also, I find 'Minimum" to be very colorful.
Very well done and I hope to here more new material soon.

Hi Andrew! We met at KC and I bought your cd because I loved your performance of 'Fair Honey' in the Gold Medal. This cd was a very pleasant surprise. It's so easy to go 'wrong' with nontraditional piping. Your recording has a very mature grasp of the unconventional potential of the bagpipes. It was like opening up the instrument to a whole new dimension. AND it's easy to listen to! Great job!

I am impressed! One thing that jumped out right away is the quality of the recording. Recording and mixing down the bagpipes for a CD is no small task, and there are so many examples out there (from big name soloists and bands) of how it is done wrong. Congrats on achieving a great balance.
The CD is a great break from the traditional recordings we all have in our collections!

I, of course, loved the CD. When I play the drone piece, Dorrit leaps onto my lap and purrs through the whole piece and then jumps down!!! Didn't you say that that piece was to appeal to an inner music sense?

And yes! You're on to something with Cage's 4'33. The drones aren't silence, but are they similar? Especially to the piping world?
Or, is what the "regular" world considers to be "silence" actually just a drone that we shut out of our conscience?

You are a very talented young man. I've listened to the CD a number of times since I've been home from K.C. My favorite tracks are 1 & 4. Now about track 5..... the first time I listened I switched tracks. Then I listened to the whole thing and thought I heard some other music in the background. The same thing happened the next time also. So am I imagining this or is there music? Any way, I like the CD and am glad I purchased it from you.
